Not every vision correction patient needs cataract surgery.

For adults in their 20s and 30s with significant nearsightedness, ICL - the Implantable Collamer Lens - is often the most advanced option available. A soft biocompatible lens is placed inside the eye to correct vision without altering the cornea. The procedure takes about 15–20 minutes per eye, is fully reversible, and includes UV protection built directly into the lens.

For patients who aren't candidates for LASIK, or who want a flexible, cornea-preserving option, ICL is worth understanding.
