This week we’re featuring SES alumna Lisa Castaneda ‘99, ‘’03, and M.Ed. ‘12, co-founder and CEO.

“What really became clear to me was the role that the in-classroom educator plays,” she said. “Yes, there are these big systems, but day to day, it comes down to the people who are face to face with students and grappling with their challenges.”

Dr. Jason Naranjo has been named the UW Bothell 2026 Outstanding Community Engaged Scholar. The award recognizes his leadership in building and sustaining partnerships among public schools, nonprofits, and the university, advancing disability justice and access while creating meaningful opportunities for teaching, scholarship, mutual benefit, and civic engagement.

Congratulations to Cristal Rangel Peña on her promotion to Graduate Program Manager!

Cristal joined SES in 2021, supporting and advocating for undergraduate and graduate students. In her new role, Cristal will continue to expand her leadership while partnering with SES faculty and staff to support graduate program development and student success.
