Collage is a favorite medium of mine, as it has the ability to change the way we see things on an everyday level. Enchanted places: capturing fire flys in mason jars buzzing in and out of the daylilies on the edges of the woods on warm summer evenings. I had the privilege of redoing the branding and website for local beauty legend Nicole Giannini’s business, Siren Beauty Space. Nicole’s an incredibly talented hairdresser and clean beauty expert who’s been doing my hair for years. When she approached me about working on her branding, I wanted to give it the same touch she gives to my hair – enhance it, not change its essence. Nicole is a proponent of clean, botanical beauty products, so we took that into account when honing in on the core driving forces behind her business: creativity, natural elements, and style. I brought my illustration classmate, the gifted collage artist Molly Scannell (A_collage) into the fold to create visuals at the intersection of feminine and edgy while capturing the botanical elements that genuinely represent Nicole. I’m glad I could shine a light on Nicole’s gift for accentuating her clients’ true beauty.
