This November, Bonhams is honored to present The Gene Hackman Collection: A Life in Art, a series of three single-owner auctions. Spanning fine art, personal artworks, and cinematic memorabilia, The Gene Hackman Collection offers a rare window into the artistic mind of a profoundly disciplined and instinctive artist.
A deeply personal collection of 13 Modern and American Art artworks assembled by the legendary actor, including works by Milton Avery, Auguste Rodin, and Richard Diebenkorn, comprises a dedicated live auction, to be held on 19 November in New York.
Hackman’s art collection mirrors the same intellectual rigor and emotional depth that defined his acting, built not by trends, but through instinct and curiosity.
With a career spanning more than five decades, Gene Hackman garnered distinction as one of the greatest screen actors of his generation. Widespread recognition for his versatility and intensity in films such as The French Connection, The Conversation, and The Royal Tenenbaums ultimately earned him two Academy Awards and four Golden Globes.
In parallel with the live auction, Bonhams will present two online auctions featuring Hackman’s personal artworks, annotated books from his library, scripts, posters, and cinematic memorabilia, including three Golden Globes.
