The NALCAB Conference brings together leaders, practitioners, and organizations from across the country to share ideas, learn from one another, and strengthen the work of building thriving and equitable communities.

As a proud NALCAB member, JPNDC values the opportunity to connect with organizations nationwide that are working to expand opportunities and support historically underrepresented communities.

This year’s NALCAB conference centered on the theme “Juntos en la Lucha: Activating Our Power.” This is a timely reminder for all of us that we do, in fact, have power we can collectively harness to create the change we want to see.

Following the Third Annual Peace Walk, neighbors, youth, and community leaders gathered for a community cookout filled with good food, conversation, connection, and celebration.

The afternoon was a chance to come together, build relationships, celebrate our neighbors, and reflect on the importance of community in creating safer, healthier, and more connected neighborhoods.

Thank you to everyone who helped bring the day to life and to everyone who continues to show up for Jackson Square. Together, we’re building community, creating connections, and keeping the spirit of neighborhood power alive.

Neighborhood power in action!

On September 12, neighbors, youth, community leaders, elders, small business owners, elected officials, and more came together in Jackson Square for the Third Annual Peace Walk.

This Peace Walk was a powerful reminder of what is possible when residents come together, speak up, and work toward a safer Boston rooted in prevention, intergenerational organizing, and long-term investment.

We used this walk as an opportunity to honor four women whose legacy continues to anchor this neighborhood: Ms. Anna Mae Cole, Ms. Julia Martin, Ms. Mildred C. Hailey, and Ms. Betty Greene.

This certification reflects our commitment to creating housing that is not only affordable but also healthy, resilient, and environmentally responsible. Through high-performance design and construction, 3371 Washington Street will deliver lower energy consumption, improved indoor air quality, enhanced comfort, and reduced operating costs for residents and the community.
Developed by JPNDC and New Atlantic Development, this new community provides 39 affordable homes for seniors, ensuring that older adults can age in place in high-quality housing while remaining connected to the Jamaica Plain neighborhood they call home.

Achieving PHIUS certification is a testament to the dedication of our development team, design consultants, contractors, funding partners, and public agencies who shared our vision for a greener and more equitable future.

Together, we are proving that affordable housing can also be sustainable housing.
