Chicago runners, it’s time!! ❤️💙
Can’t wait to share these magical streets with you!
Grateful to have had a 100% uninterrupted buildup. Behind every marathoner there’s many people (and a few puppies!) helping them get to the line healthy, happy and ready. Shout out to my crew- Ryan Hall for many biking miles (on what would have otherwise been a lonely buildup with my main training partners pregnant or out of the area.) To ASICS for the many pairs of Novablasts, Noosa Tris, and Metaspeed Edges. My therapists JB & Alyssa & strength guru Jess for helping me train aggressively at 43 years old. UCAN for providing one million Edge gels to keep the super carbs flowing. My kids for encouraging me to keep competing and sharing a lot of miles along the way (and assistant coach Jasmine for making the trip!). And to all of you for your support 🫶🏽
Body feels good and most importantly, mentally I feel ready for the battle ahead. See you out on Lake Michigan! ✨

Trying a new tapering stimulus out: puppy recovery!
Fostering these three sweet girls found homeless outside of Flagstaff. Zoe, Olive and Luna are 4.5 weeks old and might just be the performance/life boost you’re looking for. Please share and message me if you’re interested!
Happy days here with 1 week til Chicago Marathon ☺️

What’s the closest to a marathon you’ve ever raced?
Lining up for a last, last minute tune up at the US 10k champs / Twin Cities In Motion 10k this Saturday, 8 days before Chicago Marathon ! Will be fun to see if blowing it out at 10k pace helps marathon pace feel slow.
The Twin Cities is somewhere I have only good memories. These are some of my favorites:
• outkicking the men for the equalizer in 2017 (jk, but I put up a good fight!)
• setting the CR in the TC 1 mile
• getting a hattrick of wins in the 10-mile, just 6 days after a big PR in Berlin Marathon, solidifying my post-marathon racing antics 😁
Hoping to keep the good memories in the nicest city rolling. Good luck to everyone else racing!

21 years!
Little did he know how much biking lay ahead. So lucky you’re mine Ryan Hall ♥️

Showed up to the workout today with my watch still charging at home (Type B struggles).
The road had 400m marks so I was able to do my workout as planned. Ryan was there taking splits, and in the end, told me I hit the average I was supposed to. And honestly—I enjoyed it a lot more.
It’s the end of summer. It’s still hot and humid and for those of us running fall marathons, the legs are tired. Sometimes the solution is to ditch the watch and focus on the feeling, or anytime it’s becoming distraction (like 30k into every marathon 😁)
Don’t let data detract from enjoying and being fully in the moment.

The Relationships > Everything
Our first W**e Country Running Camp was everything I hoped it would be!
• Got to run, explore, and break bread with 32 new friends while showing them my favorite spots in my beautiful hometown.
• The Santa Rosa Marathon showed off as usual with immaculate summer weather as we all raced the flat and fast courses along vineyards. Lily decided to run her first half and crushed it in a sub 1:50 (in trainers 😯). Mia returned to racing with an amazing 5k/half double and it made me so happy to see her out there flying again
• The girls and I introduced everyone to Ethiopian food and shared what we can all learn from Ethiopian running culture.
• Ryan took us into his journey with meditation and we all got to practice as the sun set on the norcal coast.
• Got to run the last mile of my best friend’s (who’s new to running and currently my only athlete I’m coaching!) as she went for sub 2! She came up a few seconds short but she’s caught the bug 😍
• Gave me a fun project to work on with my parents and an excuse to talk to Sara Slattery every day for months- the #1 goal of it all!
Where should we go next??
