Message from City of Boston

Mayor Michelle Wu has declared a heat emergency in the City of Boston beginning June 18, 2024 through June 20, 2024. Temperatures are expected to be in the mid 90’s with a feels like temperature of up to a 100 degrees. Cooling centers will be open at Boston Centers for Youth & Families (BCYF) community centers Tuesday through Thursday, 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. A full list of centers, other available resources, and heat safety tips can be found online at boston.gov/heat.

Residents are encouraged to call 311 with any questions about available city services and look out for each other. If you see someone out in the heat who appears in distress and needs help, call 911 immediately.

As we get closer to the holidays and online shopping deliveries begin to increase, we want to share some tips with you to prevent the package thieves aka the “porch-pirates” from stealing them.

📦 If you are going to be away for an extended period of time & are expecting deliveries, ask a friend or neighbor to store these deliveries for you.

📦 Use the “hold for pick-up” option at USPS.com

📦 Whenever possible choose the “ship to store” option.

📦 Ask for signature on delivery

📦 Track your order status so you can retrieve packages as soon as possible.

🚨Report suspicious people or vehicles which may be following delivery trucks and/or looking for packages on steps.

🚓 Report stolen packages to the police:
