Today, HYLA honors the legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. by remembering that love is at the heart of justice. Dr. King called on all of us to resist fear and hate with courageous love—a love that dismantles oppression, unites communities, and nurtures the next generation of leaders.
Today, as fear-based policies and narratives seek to harm and divide, we recommit ourselves to the radical work of justice. This work is not new; it is tied to the unyielding efforts of those who came before us, who dreamed of a world where equity and dignity are not privileges but guarantees.
Empowering the young people of nuestra comunidad is an act of resistance, a declaration that our communities are worthy, that our young people can and will rise as leaders of transformation. We stand firm in our belief that the fight for justice is a fight for love—love of freedom, love of truth, and love of one another.
Let us not grow weary in doing good. Let us continue this sacred work with hope in our hearts and faith in the power of collective action.
