JVS Boston recently met with Jewish Family Services (JFS) of Metrowest to collaborate on the expansion of our Ready for Success partnership!

Through this program, job seekers work with JVS Career Navigators to set career advancement goals and map out individualized plans for skills training and job placement.

October is National Disability Employment Awareness Month (NDEAM)!

This year, the U.S. Department of Labor announced that this NDEAM's theme will be "Celebrating Value and Talent" to recognize how individuals with disabilities have shaped our workforce, economy, and communities.

At JVS Boston, we continue to celebrate and support workers with all disabilities in gaining the professional skills, training, and connections required to attain impactful careers.

Today marks the start of JVS's 2027 fiscal year, and we are excited to welcome two new board members: Wendy Warring and Lara Freishtat!

Wendy is a retired health care executive and attorney. Her career has spanned service in the private and public sectors, including senior leadership positions in several healthcare systems and in Massachusetts state government as Commissioner of Medicaid (MassHealth) and General Counsel for the Massachusetts Housing Finance Agency. Currently, she is involved with Social Venture Partners Boston, consulting with social impact nonprofits to help them achieve scale and sustainability. She has significant experience serving on non-profit boards, including a current engagement with Health Care For All.

Lara is a Human Resources professional with over 15 years of experience developing high-performing teams and leaders in the pharmaceutical, technology, and legal sectors. In addition to her professional accomplishments in HR, Lara has served as a long-time Board member of the Jewish Arts Collaborative, sat on numerous committees with CJP - Combined Jewish Philanthropies including the President Search Committee, and received CJP's Circle of Excellence Award.

Thank you, Wendy and Lara, for the incredible work you've done for the Greater Boston community, and we are so excited to see how you will help to shape JVS's future!

This month we celebrated our Pharmacy Technician Training Program graduates! This talented cohort of students spent the summer preparing for careers as a Pharmacy Technician by learning pharmacy mathematics and law with our partners at Boston Children’s Hospital and CVS Health. We are so proud of you, graduates!

In honor of the International Week of Deaf People and Workforce Development Month, we want to thank our community partners DEAF Inc., Massachusetts Commission for the Deaf and Hard of Hearing, MassAbility, the Massachusetts Commission for the Blind (MCB) Deaf-Blind Unit, and the Horace Mann School for the Deaf & Hard of Hearing in celebrating the talents of and providing opportunities for Deaf and Hard of Hearing people in the workplace.
