Spring is almost here and our native plant landscape is starting to return to the ! Lupins, strawberries and more! The worst enemy? Rabbits! Took some extra precautions installing a fence everywhere! Let it grow!

Working smarter! This new attic stair is nice and sturdy. But also heavy! Why not use some mechanical help to get it into place?!? Worked great, was safer, and saved some backs!

Have you ever heard of a “hack job”. Here is the literal example.  At one time the owner bought into the never paint vinyl siding craze at the .  To make it all flat, the installer literally hacked off ornate trim and flared shingle rows.  We did our homework and restored the original look, with modern materials and finishes, bringing back the original craftsman’s intent to this 1880 home.

Another 2025 highlight.  With urban living, you can only fix what is in your control.  When living in a condo building boxed in by public and private alleys, fixing the real drainage problem is not always possible, even when it is running off into your patio.  We designed a barrier and diversion system entirely on their property to keep the water moving along the alley and not into the patio.  The added bonuses? We hid it in a new fence, and it also doubles as a rodent barrier!  Beauty and function together.

Looking back at some of the interesting ones for 2025.  Decided to shine some light on the solar array projects.  Had several homeowners looking for a way to control electrical expenses, get a reasonable payback period, and get the most from their homes.  Solar is not right for every house, but these 2 were perfect.  The took advantage of the purpose built garage with south facing shed roof to get a 16KwH array that let the power credits get distributed to the property investors in their own homes!  With a 5-6 year payback period for an array that should last 25 years, it was a no brainer!  So far, producing what is expected or more!

Awesome first floor unit with everything! Qualified for reduced rate electric for the winter! Ready to move in!

Working smarter! Had to move this Eastern Red Bud to its new home. Weighing in at over 200 lbs, the combination of ramps, dolly, and electric winch made it easy and no broken backs! Can’t wait to see the flowers on this one in the spring!

Purpose built with reused materials! This garage was custom designed to fit the owners uses, fit the lot, and fit the future! This 30x20 structure has a shed roof that faces south for future solar applications, and door heights to serve as winter storage for his boats. Electric was planned in advance with bright shop lights, like used in an auto body shop. New overhead doors with nylon rollers and side mount openers are virtually silent!The majority of finish materials from fiber cement claps to all the windows were saved from the dumpster at other projects. Even the Cupola came from a home in NH where its former owner custom built and signed it! The sailboat fits perfect in this seaside town. This is how we do it smarter!
