First Night takes place in Boston on December 31. Activities and programming are completely free!
First Night Boston is a highly anticipated city-wide celebration that is free and open to the public. The long running festival features family-friendly activities such as a parade to Boston Common, a spectacular pyrotechnics show, ice sculptures, performances from local artists/musicians, and of course the highly anticipated annual countdown to the New Year. First Night is a 501(c)(3) non-profit, made possible by the generous donations provided by individuals and corporate sponsors.

From City Hall Plaza to Copley Square, the 50th First Night Boston was one for the history books. We appreciate the hundreds of thousands of guests who visited our city and enjoyed the event. It was so great to see you, and thank you for braving the cold to help us ring in 2026!
First Night Boston is a huge logistical undertaking, and we're extremely grateful to the City of Boston and the Boston Police Department (Official) for helping us manage the flow of people throughout the day, and the Boston Fire Department and Boston EMS (Emergency Medical Services) for keeping the event safe and enjoyable. Thank you!
