Yesterday the Massachusetts senate adopted an amendment that will extend outdoor dining and to-go cocktails until December 15th, 2022.
Thank you Senator Diana DiZoglio, Senator Bruce Tar and Senator Susan Moran for fighting for extensions that hospitality needs to survive. And thank you to everyone who sent an email, made a phone ring or spread the word. Without all of us taking action I would not have gotten this far.
Though we do seek permanence this is a win that will help us move to the next step and let our industry plan around using these tools for 2022.
Please call your State Senator and ask them to support Amendment #10 today which would extend to-go beverages until May 2023.
16 states have legalized cocktails to-go on a permanent basis:
Arizona, Arkansas, Iowa, Florida, Georgia, Kansas, Kentucky,
Montana, Missouri, Nebraska, Ohio, Oklahoma, Oregon, Texas,
West Virginia, Wisconsin, as well as the District of Columbia.
These states allowed their cocktail to-go measures to expire, New York, Pennsylvania and North Carolina.
Though the New York Governor Vows to Make Takeout Cocktails Permanent.
Reopened does not mean recovered, and hospitality
is still struggling with the harsh economic
impacts of Covid-19.
Stripping local businesses of this lifeline at such a
critical time will only further devastate the hospitality industry.

Getting closer but tomorrow will be the second day of no to-go cocktails. There are 14 items in the Covid extensions holding this bill up that are in conference tomorrow, one of them is caps on 3rd party delivery services. Please ask your representatives to protect small businesses!!!
"In a compromise between the Senate’s date of March 1, 2022 and the House’s July 31, 2022, the bill would permit to-go beer, wine and cocktail sales by restaurants through May 1, 2022. It includes House language requiring that takeout and delivery drinks be sold at the same prices as those consumed on-site.
Special permits for expanded outdoor dining, which would otherwise expire in 60 days, would be valid until April 21, 2022 under the bill."
