As we gear up for our next exhibition to go up in February, we at JCBA took a trip down memory lane and found the catalog from the very first traveling show we ever brought in back in 2003. Design, Construct, Engage featured books made by Edward Hutchins over the course of 30 years. His innovative and experimental approach to bookmaking challenged traditional boundaries of what bookmaking could be and completely transformed the medium as we know it today. The exhibition travelled through the Minnesota Center for Book Arts, The Public Library of Cincinati, and the University of Utah but multiple works included now live permanently in the Jaffe Collection.
