🥑 Happy National Avocado Day!
Avocados are known for being heart healthy, but they’re good for your gums, too.

They’re packed with nutrients that help support healthy gum tissue, including vitamins C and E, healthy fats, folate, and potassium. Together, these nutrients help your body maintain healthy tissues and support its natural healing process.

Adding avocado to your diet doesn’t have to be complicated. Try:
• Sliced on whole-grain toast
• Added to a salad
• Blended into a smoothie
• Paired with eggs or grilled fish
• Mashed into guacamole with fresh vegetables

Of course, no single food can prevent gum disease. Healthy gums come from a combination of good nutrition, daily brushing and flossing, and regular dental visits.

Small choices every day can make a big difference over time.

Sometimes the biggest difference isn’t the crown.
It’s the gums around it.

In this case, gum recession had exposed the metal edge of an older crown. The crown itself wasn’t the first problem to solve. Before replacing any restorations, we first rebuilt the healthy gum tissue to create a natural foundation.

Once the gums healed, the new restoration could blend seamlessly with the smile.

This is why periodontics is about more than treating gum disease. Healthy gums frame your teeth, protect the roots, and create the foundation for beautiful, long-lasting dental work.

A great smile isn’t just about the teeth you see.
It’s about everything that supports them.
Every case is different, but treating the foundation first often leads to the best long-term result.

“Everything feels fine.”
We hear that a lot.

Then, as we’re talking, patients will mention things like…
“My gums bleed a little when I floss.”
“I’ve always had sensitive teeth.”
“My jaw clicks sometimes.”
“I just chew on the other side.”
Most people assume those things are just part of life.

We don’t.

They’re often small clues that help us spot a problem before it becomes a bigger one.
One of the biggest myths in dentistry is that if nothing hurts, nothing is wrong. The reality is that many dental and gum problems develop quietly. Bleeding gums, tooth sensitivity, changes in the way you chew, or a clicking jaw are all worth mentioning—even if they’ve been happening for years.

That’s why we ask so many questions during your visit. We’re looking for the little things that can help protect your teeth, gums, and smile for the long run.

You don’t have to know what’s important—that’s our job.
If something in your mouth feels different, even if it seems small, tell us. We’d much rather have a quick conversation today than help you through a much bigger problem later.

Swipe through—you might recognize something you’ve been calling “normal.”

Bad breath isn’t always about forgetting to brush your teeth.

In this carousel, we break down:
• Common reasons bad breath happens
• Simple ways to improve it
• Everyday habits that support a healthier oral microbiome

🥭 Tomorrow is National Mango Day!

Mangoes are more than just a summer favorite—they’re also packed with nutrients that support a healthy smile.

Vitamin C helps keep your gums healthy by supporting collagen, which is important for the tissues that hold your teeth in place. Mangoes also contain antioxidants that help protect your body’s cells and are high in water, making them a refreshing snack.

Like any fruit, mangoes do contain natural sugars, so it’s a good idea to enjoy them as part of a meal and rinse with water afterward. Waiting about 30 minutes before brushing can also help protect your enamel.

Healthy smiles start with everyday habits, and choosing nutrient-rich foods is one small step that can make a difference.

Bone loss usually doesn’t hurt.
That’s why so many people don’t realize it’s happening until they’re told they may need a bone graft.

Your body gives subtle clues long before then:
• Teeth that feel a little loose
• Gums that seem to be shrinking
• Food getting stuck in places it never used to
• Changes in the way your bite feels
• A denture or partial that doesn’t fit like it once did

These changes don’t always mean you need a bone graft, but they’re worth paying attention to.

The good news? The earlier we catch bone loss, the more options we have to preserve your smile and rebuild support if needed.

If something about your smile feels different, don’t ignore it. Sometimes the smallest changes tell us the most.

Have you noticed any of these signs?

When people hear the words “sinus augmentation,” they often think:
“That sounds complicated.”
But here’s what it really means.
Sometimes there isn’t enough bone in the upper jaw to safely support a dental implant.
A sinus augmentation helps rebuild that foundation so an implant has the support it needs to last.
Think of it like building a home.
You wouldn’t build on a weak foundation and hope for the best.
The same is true for dental implants.
A strong foundation helps create:
✓ Better implant stability
✓ Long-term success
✓ Improved comfort and function
✓ Confidence you can count on
The goal isn’t just replacing a tooth.
It’s creating the support needed for results that look natural, feel comfortable, and stand the test of time.
At Boca Perio & Implants, Dr. Julian Leichter takes a patient-first approach to rebuilding healthy foundations before moving forward with treatment.
Because lasting smiles start beneath the surface.
Before today, had you ever heard of a sinus augmentation?

If you’ve noticed your teeth looking longer, or your gums have started pulling back, you’re not imagining it.

Gum recession is common, but that doesn’t mean you have to live with it.

A lot of people worry that fixing recession means gum graft surgery, stitches, and a long recovery. The good news is that isn’t always the case.

For many patients, Pinhole Gum Rejuvenation is a minimally invasive option that gently moves your own gum tissue back where it belongs. No graft is taken from the roof of your mouth, and there are no traditional incisions or sutures.

The goal isn’t just a healthier-looking smile. It’s protecting exposed roots, reducing sensitivity, and helping preserve your natural teeth for years to come.

Every smile is different, so the best treatment depends on your specific situation. If you’ve been wondering whether your gums are receding, we’re happy to take a look and explain your options.
