From Grandview Prep to an international stage... 🎹🌎

Our 5th grader Victoria Q. earned first place in an international piano competition, earning her a spot among just 18 young pianists from around the world selected to perform.

Artificial intelligence is rapidly transforming how students learn, write, research and interact with information. And it raises an important question for educators and families: What should school look like in an age when technology can do so much?

Grandview Preparatory School Head of School Jacqueline Westerfield, along with a Lynn University professor and Grandview parent, as well as a Grandview parent and student, recently sat down with WPBF 25 News’ Todd McDermott WPBF for a very timely interview to share their perspectives on AI, education and what comes next.

What does modern learning look like in the age of AI?

Grandview Prep Head of School Jacqueline R. Westerfield explores that question in her latest South Florida Sun Sentinel op-ed, encouraging schools and parents to think carefully about when and how AI tools are introduced to students.

This week marked our first Connect Day of the year!

Once a month, our Lower School students meet with their Middle and Upper School buddies to spend time together, build friendships, and create connections that grow throughout the year.

Led by our Upper School Student Government Association (SGA), Connect Day gives students across Grandview the chance to learn from one another. Older students get to lead, encourage, and be someone their buddy can look up to, while younger students gain a familiar face and a new friend in the halls.

Because learning begins with belonging.

Long before became a national conversation, we recognized the value of creating space for students to connect, collaborate, and be fully present. 📵📴

Now, three years later, our continue to foster calmer classrooms, stronger relationships, and more meaningful learning experiences.

Grandview alumnus Tasman ’18 was recently featured in the July 2026 issue of National Geographic for his work with HonduHerp, highlighting the incredible story of thalassinus, also known as the jade palm pit viper.

Years ago, the very mountain where this species lives was at risk of being clear-cut for a coffee plantation. Instead, Tasman and a team of herpers came together to raise funds to purchase the land and preserve it as a nature reserve through HonduHerp. Their work sparked a growing movement of conservation and community involvement, inspiring local efforts to protect the forests and the remarkable species that call them home.

Their journey is a powerful reminder of what can happen when curiosity, purpose, and a commitment to making a difference come together.🐍💫
