🧠 A single dose of an L*D-based drug has now succeeded in two Phase 3 trials for generalized anxiety disorder.

The drug, called DT120, is a pharmaceutical formulation of lysergide, better known as L*D.

Unlike conventional anxiety medications that may need to be taken every day, DT120 is being developed as a treatment that could provide lasting benefits after a single supervised dose.

In the latest Phase 3 trial, called Panorama, researchers enrolled 245 adults with generalized anxiety disorder.

Participants received either 100 micrograms of DT120, a lower 50-microgram dose, or a placebo.

After 12 weeks, anxiety scores in the 100-microgram group had fallen by 9.8 points on the Hamilton Anxiety Rating Scale.

The placebo group improved by 4.7 points, giving DT120 a 5.1-point advantage over placebo.

Improvements were already detectable by the second day after treatment and persisted throughout the 12-week study.

Participants were closely monitored on the day of treatment for at least eight hours because L*D temporarily produces powerful changes in perception and cognition.

Side effects were common but were mostly mild to moderate and occurred mainly on the dosing day, including altered perception, nausea and headache.

This is now the second successful Phase 3 trial of DT120 for generalized anxiety disorder.

But L*D has not been approved as an anxiety treatment yet.

The latest Phase 3 results are also currently topline company results and have not yet appeared as a peer-reviewed research paper.

Definium Therapeutics plans to meet with the FDA later this year and submit an application for approval in the first half of 2027.

If regulators ultimately approve it, DT120 could become one of the first psychedelic medicines used routinely to treat an anxiety disorder.
