First of all thank you so much for the commitment so many of you have made to our America’s 2020 Structured Note Awards and what was scheduled to be our 14th Americas Awards in Miami this April.

Thanks also to all of you who have given us really helpful feedback on your preferences for postponement, rescheduling etc.

Obviously the April event will not be going ahead. We are exploring all options as the situation unfolds. These include :

Rescheduling the Miami event for early summer/Autumn as soon as this becomes possible.
Relocating the event to New York later in the year.
Creating an America’s 2020 Structured Notes publication based on our recognitions for April/May publication so that the inspiration and expertise that has driven these awards can be celebrated shared and marketed as client solutions while still current. This could be followed up later in the year with a New York/Miami Awards presentation event.

Like you we are dealing with all the legal, financial, logistical uncertainty and of course most importantly health implications of the crisis – looking after ourselves, our colleagues and our families.

Thank you so much for your patience and we are humbly sorry for the frustration and uncertainty that comes with this crisis and figuring out what to do.

BMW pioneered SONIA-linked issuance from corporate borrowers, thanks to HSBC, becoming the first to issue on the overnight rate, publicly or privately. The GBP250m 1-year floater still stands as the only corporate SONIA-linked .

Firing the starting gun on issuance linked to , L-Bank Stuttgart became the first borrower to issue on the risk-free rate. UniCredit Bank led the deal, selling the trade even before the Euro rate had started to be published, opening the door to a range of other issuers in public benchmarks.

Award for みずほフィナンシャルグループ(Mizuho) & Severn Trent last Feb 6th at the London Global Awards dinner. CONGRATULATIONS ! Pleasure to have you Yoshiyuki Uchida.

facilitated true cross-border funding with Severn Trent’s only non-syndicated new issue of the decade. It connected the UK utility to Asian demand, attracting hefty GBP100m for the sterling market in an unusual 7-year maturity, making this one of the largest trades placed by the dealer in the UK currency in recent years.

In a series of trades that brought State Grid Corporation of China EU Rep Office to its first international funding, the issuer appeared in US and Hong Kong dollars with its inaugural MTNs outside of the onshore renminbi. Especially the HSBC-arranged US dollar deal helped to generate international interest in a state-linked name that had otherwise maintained a domestic focus.

Congratulations again to Credit Agricole CIB and China Development Bank for their partnership ! The bumper China Development Bank USD750m 5-year private placement series came amid a record amount of international US dollar bond issuance from the Chinese government and helped bring the policy bank’s 2019 non-syndicated dollar volume to over USD4bn. The benchmark-rivalling series, solely placed by Credit Agricole, achieved one of the lowest pricing for a Chinese private placement.
