Meet Juan Díaz – Trumpet player of Gold Brass Quintet

Born in Madrid, Cundinamarca, Colombia, Juan’s musical journey began in the Symphonic Band of Funza under maestro Óscar Chunza. His dedication and passion led him to the National University of Colombia, where he honed his craft and launched an impressive career.

Winner of the 16th “Ciudad de Bogotá” Trumpet Competition
Performed across Colombia, Brazil, and the U.S. with the Colombian Youth Philharmonic
Collaborated with the Bogotá Philharmonic, Real Brass Quintet, and Nueva Filarmonía (Latin Grammy winners!)
Currently pursuing his master’s at Lynn University and continuing to dazzle audiences in Florida

From Bogotá’s finest stages to concert halls in the U.S., Juan brings power, precision, and heart to every performance. We’re honored to have him in the quintet!

Meet Edgar Javier Aragón – Horn Player of Gold Brass Quintet!

Born in Caracas, Venezuela, Edgar was raised in a family deeply rooted in music. He began his musical journey at age 12 in El Sistema, studying with his father, Francisco Javier Aragón, and continued at the Simón Bolívar Conservatory with Ulises Aragón and Daniel Graterol.

From 2004 to 2018, he was a core member of the Simón Bolívar Symphony Orchestra under Maestro Gustavo Dudamel. Edgar has performed in some of the world’s most iconic concert halls — Carnegie Hall, Royal Albert Hall, Musikverein, and Philharmonie Berlin — and worked with greats like Simon Rattle, Claudio Abbado, and Daniel Barenboim.

He has recorded for Deutsche Grammophon and performed at top festivals like BBC Proms, Salzburg, and Lucerne.

Now based in Miami, Edgar continues his musical journey as a freelance performer and educator — and as the horn player of the Gold Brass Quintet!

Last month, members of the Gold Brass Quintet had the incredible opportunity to perform with the Miami Symphony Orchestra in a spectacular concert featuring the music of the legendary Emilio Estefan. An unforgettable night celebrating Latin music and orchestral brilliance!
