American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA) requires employers to notify all employees involuntarily terminated after November 1, 2019 of their eligibility for the new COBRA subsidy. There are penalties to the employer both from the IRS and DOL. Please make sure you are compliant. If your group is COBRA eligible (based on the number of employees in 2020) I always recommend my clients have a third-party administrator. Additionally, this is a year you really want to make sure you're working with a CPA who is competent. The subsidy will be paid by the employer in most cases, and the CPA will file for reimbursement from the government when they file your quarterly taxes.
