IMPORTANT NOTICE FOR CITY OF BOCA RATON WATER CUSTOMERS

Semiannual Water System Flush to Start September 27, 2026

In order to deliver the highest quality water to our customers, City of Boca Raton Utilities Department requires periodic line flushing and temporary treatment modification. These modifications to the disinfection process are routine and an industry best practice as a precautionary measure to maintain the water quality.
From Sunday September 27 - Sunday October 11, 2026 City of Boca Raton Utilities Department will be using free chlorine as opposed to chloramine for water treatment. This is only temporary, and the water is safe to drink.
As one of our customers, you may notice your water has a slight variation in taste or smell during this period. If you are especially sensitive to this change, keep an open container of drinking water refrigerated for a few hours allowing the chlorine to dissipate.

Users of home dialysis machines, owners of fish and aquatic animals and managers of stores are advised to seek professional guidance for removing chlorine residuals.

The City of Boca Raton Utilities Department will continue to flush fire hydrants during this period.

Customers may notice flowing water in streets and swales, localized lower water pressures and a slight discoloration of their tap water. Again, these temporary conditions will not cause adverse health effects.

Please share this information with all the other people who drink this water, especially those who may not have received this notice directly (for example, people in apartments, nursing homes, schools, and businesses). You can do this by posting this notice in a public place or distributing copies by hand or mail.
