Regular users of sesame seed oil had an incredible 90% reduced risk for stomach cancer according to an observational study from Asia. Yes, this oil is low in saturated fat and high in heart healthy monounsaturated fat. But its true secret sauce is sesamin—its main antioxidant. Sesamin severely disrupts cell functioning and was shown to specifically suppress and kill stomach cancer cells in a test tube. It may also help with liver . In a clinical trial, sesame seed oil significantly improved liver antioxidant levels and other liver function markers in humans. All this suggests oil makes a healthy addition to our regular diet and is a powerful detox food. See comments.

According to a study from the USA, cauliflower seems to specialize in preventing late-stage prostate cancer, which is the most aggressive and life-threatening type. Men eating more than one serving weekly of this amazing vegetable had an incredible 52% less risk for stage III / IV prostate cancer which had spread beyond the prostate. Neither (45% less risk) nor cabbage (36% less risk) were as powerful at the same dose. This could be because has particularly high levels of indole-3-carbinol, a broccoli family compound with potent activity against prostate . So do consider getting more cauliflower in your regular diet and remember, it’s best when eaten raw.

A new study has found that women eating more than 3 servings weekly of cabbage or sauerkraut had a stunning 63% reduced risk for breast cancer. But crucially, it had to be or short-cooked. Cancer risk was not reduced when this vegetable was long-cooked. That’s because cooking destroys the enzyme (myrosinase) that is needed to activate the key fighting compounds in cabbage which are indole-3-carbinol and isothiocyanates. The same is true for all broccoli family vegetables. Raw and sauerkraut are also a great sources of vitamins C, K, B6, B9, potassium and dietary fiber—all for just 25 calories per delicious serving.
