Life skills.

The digital Information age has created an expectation of speed, ease of use, and convenience on the user end. On the surface this sounds great, but let’s dig a little deeper
As a coach it’s my job to help people reach their goals. I’m paid to produce a result. It’s not a cliche. Who we are, our habits, skills and mindset have created who we are today, but rarely will they produce who we want to be, or what we want to create for tomorrow. To produce change a coach must undertake a deep dive into human behavior and why people do what they do

Convenience is the absolute enemy of results. In many cases it’s a failure to commit. Failing to commit is rebelling against your own success. Let me explain. Life is fast, busy and demanding. Every day we are forced to prioritize what is important and what is not. In many cases we prioritize unconsciously, or based on current emotions and circumstances. There are an endless parade of circumstances that arise to challenge our priorities and demand of our time and attention
The only way to achieve mission success is to commit to dedicated blocks of time for production that focus on our commitments. Life is rarely convenient so we must hold steadfast to our priorities.

Show me a client who prioritize convenience and I’ll show you a client who is not executing a plan or producing results. This is not the client you want in your business

The most valuable commodity we have is time. I need time with my clients to produce results. I need a number of clients in my business to be successful. If a single client is tying up 3x their weight in cancelled appointments, arranging and rearranging my schedule for their convenience, what has that client really cost me? I need time with a client to produce results and that means they need to prioritize their commitment.

As a coach I’ve learned to spot prospective clients who prioritize convenience. Experience has shown me how this story ends. Often times I’ll pass. If I place a couple parameters as a condition of working together they often choose to pass as well. Life is too short to work with clients who aren’t a good fit for my business. Stop catering to convenience.

👉DONT GET IT TWISTED👉
💥
Basic fundamentals, executed well and often, are they key to success in life and in fitness.
💪
Right about now the gyms are flooded with beginners who have already begun to sew the seeds for failure.
🤭
Having the expectation of constant variety and novelty is a huge mistake. The more movements you try to master at once, the less likely you are to master anything. Which means you’re doing a whole bunch of stuff incorrectly. Movements and exercises done incorrectly are ineffective at best, and potentially dangerous.
🤬
Now if you really want to set yourself up to fail, take a movement you're not very good at, and add speed, load, resistance, volume or complex variation. This is not a recipe for progress or results. Its a recipe for disaster.

Progress is its own reward. Fitness becomes fun when your efforts bare fruit. In the beginning, focus on the basics, done to the best of your ability, consistently for at least 2-3 months.

Set yourself up for success. Build a solid foundation of fundamentals. Only then, a Jedi you will become.

👊I AM NOT AN ENTERTAINER🤡
⭕️💢
One of the biggest reasons I see people fail in their fitness routine is false expectations.
⭕️💢
A lot goes into being a great coach or trainer. Knowledge of exercise, nutrition and it’s application. People skills, communications skills, leadership, psychology....the list goes on.
⭕️💢
While being personable and friendly are certainly valuable assets on the list of soft skills, at the end of the day we’re all adults here.
⭕️💢
A coach has a job to do and being your friend, or all nicely nice is not necessarily in the job description. The job of a coach is not to entertain. It’s to train. To get results. Failure to get results means most times being out of a job. Sometimes being too nice just allows people to continue to deceive themselves.
⭕️💢
One of the biggest reasons I see people fail in a fitness routine is because of expectation. They expect to be entertained. They get bored. They expect training to be fun and as soon as it’s not fun, as soon as they get bored, it’s time to quit or try the next thing. While fun is certainly a bonus, the expectation of entertainment might be the exact things that’s sabotaging you. Your constant need for novelty and variety is keeping you from being consistent or mastering the fundamentals required to succeed.
⭕️💢
Fun, like most things in fitness, is earned. I’ll tell you when fitness is fun. When you’re fit. When you’re not being crushed with the realization of how far you’ve let yourself go, or how far you have to go to crawl out of the hole you’ve dug for yourself. Fitness is fun when you feel yourself getting better. Feel yourself getting stronger.
⭕️💢
Dig deep and be honest. How you do anything is how you do everything. Instead of being bored and expecting your trainer to provide the entertainment, maybe you could stick to this one thing, just this once, long enough to succeed.
👊👊👊👊
I’m not an entertainer. While you’re busy being bored I’m doing my job. Participation may not be mandatory, but it goes a long way to achieving your goals.
⭕️💢
Happy New Years.

A public service announcement......We all have that image in our head....us on our best day. Probably 22, straight out of college, not a care in the world. T**h you could bounce a quarter on, a 6 pack that you could do the wash on....

Those days are gone, but we chase them, haunted by them and who we were on our best day, in competition with the ghost of Christmas past. That's only cute in theory, and it damn sure makes for a funny country song. But in reality there are consequences. Its that time of year and the gyms are packed with people that just cant come to grasp with father time or the fact that they "aint who they once was....."

One of my best friends once said, "sooner or later, you have to grow up and get an umbrella and a wrist watch". In fitness, and in life, we have to embrace and appreciate, our bodies, our life and where we are today, on the way to who we are becoming tomorrow.

In the gym, and in life, it pays to train (dress, act, live) appropriate to our age, capabilities, goals and limitations. Accepting who we are and where we are with grace, class and humility is the key to not just happiness, but future success. ...once apon a time, back in prime......NEVERMIND!!!!
