Welcome to The Pod! We are a Christian hybrid-homeschool serving the low country! We are a Christian one room schoolhouse. Message us to learn more!

Reading and math is individualized to each student and taught 1:1, while all non-core subjects are taught whole group multi-grade.

Flexible does not mean academically casual.

That can sometimes be a misconception surrounding alternative education models.
Our mornings at The Learning Pod are intentionally academic. Students work through structured Math and ELA instruction in small groups, practice new skills, read, write, problem-solve, and build on what they have previously learned.

The flexibility is in the environment.

Smaller classes.
Different ways of teaching.
More conversation.
More room to slow down when necessary.
More room to move ahead when appropriate.

Strong academics and a child-centered environment can absolutely exist in the same place.

We think they should.

One thing I have thought about a lot as both a teacher and the founder of The Learning Pod is this:

More does not always mean better.

More homework.
More hours sitting at a desk.
More worksheets.
More testing.
More pressure.

None of those things automatically create a better education.

Sometimes children need something different.

More conversation.
More connection.
More opportunities to ask questions.
More hands-on experiences.
More time outside.
More adults who really know them.

The Learning Pod continues to grow and evolve, but that belief remains at the heart of what we are building.

We want children to receive a strong education without losing the parts of childhood that matter, too.

One question we hear often:

“Is The Learning Pod a homeschool co-op?”

Not quite!

While community is a huge part of what we do, TLP operates much more like a small hybrid school. Students have consistent certified teachers, structured Math and ELA instruction, academic expectations, projects, science, social studies, and a regular school-day rhythm.

The difference?

We get to keep many of the things families love about homeschooling—flexibility, smaller groups, more individualized attention, hands-on learning, and room for childhood.

It’s different from traditional school and that’s very much intentional. 💚

Fridays look a little different around here. 💚

One of our favorite parts of The Learning Pod is taking learning—and friendship—outside of our four walls.

Our Community Fridays give students opportunities to explore our area, try something new, spend time together, and build relationships beyond their regular classroom groups.

Because education is about so much more than what happens at a desk.

We have had some wonderful opportunities so far this year.

There is something pretty special about learning in a room where your teacher actually knows you.

Not just your name.

They know when you’re capable of more.
They know when you need something explained differently.
They know when you’re unusually quiet.
They know what makes you laugh.
They know where you’ve grown and where you’re still working.

Small-group education gives us the opportunity to really know the children sitting in front of us—and that relationship is a huge part of meaningful learning.

What does “hybrid homeschool” actually mean?

At The Learning Pod, it means families don’t have to choose between the flexibility of homeschooling and the structure, instruction, friendships, and community of a traditional classroom.

Our students spend their days learning in small groups with certified teachers who know them well, working through meaningful academics, building friendships, and getting plenty of opportunities to explore beyond a textbook.

And because families have flexibility in their weekly schedule, there is still room for the things that make homeschooling so special—family time, travel, outside interests, slower mornings, and simply having more ownership over childhood.

For many families, it really is the best of both worlds. 💚

A strong curriculum gives students the tools they need to grow, but small-group instruction allows teachers to help them use those tools successfully.

At The Learning Pod, we use The Good and the Beautiful for our core academic subjects. Our teachers use the curriculum as a strong foundation while adjusting instruction, pacing, practice, and support based on the students in front of them.

This combination gives our students consistency while still allowing for meaningful, individualized support.

Are you still searching for the right educational fit for your child this school year?

The Learning Pod is a Christian hybrid homeschool program serving students in kindergarten through eighth grade. Our students learn in small groups with caring teachers, engaging curriculum, and a consistent weekly rhythm.

Families may select a schedule that works for them, with academic instruction offered Monday through Thursday and community experiences on Fridays.

Limited spaces may still be available in select grade levels.

We would be happy to share more about our program and learn about your family’s educational goals.
