Title: “Sunsetting Summer: Reflections from our Youth Ministry”

It may seem to you like time is flying by too fast. Summers are always busy in youth ministry, but this summer in particular has been especially active–and exciting! Now that the summer calendar is starting to transition into fall routines, I wanted to share some reflections from our youth ministry at Colonial Baptist Church from the last few months.

When we closed up the 2025-26 school year of ministry, we ended up ministering to 37 different students. 7 students completed the Word of Life discipleship program, with 2 others completing a majority of the program. We also had 2 students make professions of faith in Christ for salvation!

Once the summer hits, we do what’s called “Summer Sizzlers” on Wednesday nights. This included a Putt Putt Night, a trip to the Go Center, a night at the Roanoke Star, a Salem RidgeYaks game, and even a “Milkshake & Musical Chairs” night.

We brought several children and teens to the Wilds Camp in North Carolina, where they were able to spend loads of quality time in God’s Word and in God’s beautiful world down in what is technically considered a temperate rainforest in Brevard, NC. A couple of weeks later, after some great training sessions, we brought a group of 17 people to New York City to once again serve alongside Manor Community Church in Manhattan. We saw God do wonderful things in and through our students who came. And then we closed up our final major outreach event with Vacation Bible School, where we had multiple teens serve with major responsibilities.

As we look back on this past summer, it’s been encouraging to see students make great strides in their walk with the Lord and in the ways that God has used them to serve both locally and in unfamiliar territory.

As we head into the fall, will you pray for the continued growth of our youth ministry? We might be sunsetting this summer soon, but we have an entire school year of potential for God to do amazing things in the lives of our teens.

Upward Soccer

What a joy it is to impact the next generation for the Gospel! In just a few weeks, we'll kick off our 15th season of Upward Soccer!! Through the years, we've had thousands go through our program, and we give God all the glory for what He has accomplished in this ministry!! From our coaches sharing devotions during practice to our halftime speakers, our main goal is to make God known through the avenue of soccer!!

We wrapped up our time in Emerald Crossing with our Irish jig!! What a great time and a great VBS this year! Please be in pray for God to work in the lives of the kids & adults!!

We had another great night of VBS at Emerald Isle last night!!

We can’t wait for our Irish Jig in the Faith Center tonight @ 6:30 PM!!
