I’m Chalupa, a 2-year-old, 50-lb. American Pit Bull Terrier, and around here, we believe in second chances!

My story started when I was found tied to a pole in Philly. Some kind police officers brought me to ACCT Philly, where I spent less than a month before I was at risk of losing my life. Talk about getting dealt a rough hand. 😔 Thankfully, I got my shot at a comeback with HAL — and I plan on making the most of it.

I am:

✅ Crate, house & leash-trained

✅ Good with dogs

✅ Good with kids (12+)

I may take a little time to warm up, but once I trust you, you’ve got a best friend for life. I LOVE my people and want to be wherever you are. My love languages are kisses, cuddles and being your full-time shadow. Anyone into that??

I have two speeds: bulldozer and couch potato. 😂 I love playing and zooming around, but when it’s time to relax, just pull my favorite dog bed next to you and I’ll happily park myself there all day. 🛋️

A fenced yard would be awesome, but it’s not a dealbreaker. What I really want is someone who’s home often — work-from-home buddy, reporting for duty! I'll hype you up before all your big meetings! 💻

Philly gave me a second chance. Now I’m ready to make the rest of my story count. 🏡

"On January 3rd, 2019, our hearts grew a little bit bigger when we welcomed Nessie into our lives. On September 8th she turned 8 - it’s impossible to measure how much love, joy, and laughter she has brought into our world since that day.

Nessie is family. She is a constant reminder of what unconditional love feels like. From couch cuddles to hiking adventures, every moment with Nessie is proof that love is always worth a second chance.

You were meant to be with us, and we were meant to be yours. Cheers to many more tail wags, belly rubs, and happy years together."

I’m Kit, a 3-year-old Blue Heeler mix with medium energy and a BIG love for my people.

I am:

✅House & leash-trained (although those things called squirrels are just asking to be chased!)

❓ I'm not a huge fan of the crate but don't show destructive tendencies when left out

✅ Good with dogs

✅ Good with kids (12+)

My favorite activity? Jumping headfirst into your lap like I’ve been launched. 😂 Once I’m there, I’m perfectly happy to snuggle on the couch, and I’d be thrilled to sleep next to you, too. ❤️

I love my toys, especially the soft squeaky kind, and I’ll even toss them to myself sometimes. Yes, I’m perfectly capable of entertaining myself. 😆 I follow my foster mom around the house too, because obviously I need to know what she’s doing at all times. 🕵️‍♀️

Oh, and car rides? I’m in! 🚗

Now for the important part: I’ll admit I’m still working on my confidence. 🥹 I’d really love a home where someone is around often — I know a lot of you work from home! 😉 I can get a little nervous when I’m left alone. Wait… where did you go? Are you coming back?

I’m not looking for someone to fix me. I just need someone who will be patient, help me build up my confidence, and show me that being apart for a little while isn’t so bad. With some time, consistency, and a little training, I know I can get there.

And in return? You’ll get a loving, loyal little shadow who thinks your lap is the best seat in the house. 💙
