Our Raider All-Stater today is cross-country and track runner Nick Doud.

The youngest of three brothers who have all been Runnin' Raiders, Nick helped lead the 2018 cross-country team through the 2A regional and sectional at Normal U-High and East Peoria, respectively, to the state finals.

In Peoria's Detweiler Park, Doud saved his best for last as he finished fifth overall in 14:59, and earned all-state honors. It was a big reason why BHS would claim third place in state that day, bringing his teammates Bradyn Olmstead, Evan Turnbull (an all-stater himself in tennis), Drew Gibson, and Quinn Olson, all to the finish line within a minute and 13 seconds, and holding off Maple Park Kaneland off by a point for the third place trophy.

The following spring, Nick would keep on running and within a week's time, he reset the school records in both the 1600 (4:19.69) and the 3200 (9:12.57). These days, Doud is a member of the mens' cross-country and track teams at Butler University in Indianapolis.

A couple tips to help you prepare for the forecasted heavy rainfall event this weekend in the Midwest:
1. Insure your sump pump is plugged in and working properly. If you are unsure pour some water (a couple gallons) in the pit until the pump activates and discharges properly.
2. Check your downspouts - make sure they have adequate slope to suffiecently drain away from your home.
3. Clear any debris from out of your window wells.
