If we did your return call if you need help or your 2019 income
This is for those clients we did 2020 returns for. If you will not owe money and want to file an extension please contact me. I suggest this for those that will not owe money, as if you owe money it must be paid with the extension.
For those of you who had your return done last year, by me, the deadline for drop off returns is April 1st., that is not an April fools day joke. Returns must include the amount of stimulus and advanced child tax credits you received, confirm the account number you want your refund deposited in and your phone number.
If you are coming into the office there is less of a crowd in the afternoon.
Just some info.
For those coming to the office the mornings are usually the busiest, it is slower in the afternoon.
We only accept drop off returns for people we did last year. For those prior clients doing drop offs please include the amount of Stimulus payment received in 2021, the amount of any Advanced Child Tax Credit you received, confirm your bank as account for direct deposit and include a phone number and email if possible.
Treasury Issues Warning Going into Tax Season
Treasury Department officials took the preemptive step on Monday of warning taxpayers that the upcoming tax season, which begins on January 24 and will run through April 18, will be messy and could see delays.
Pointing to staffing shortages and paperwork backlogs, officials said taxpayers will likely face frustrations similar to those of last year’s tax season. Potential problem areas include delays in the processing of refunds and returns as well as difficulty in reaching IRS.
As of mid-November 2021, the IRS had a backlog of roughly 8.6 million returns left to process. In a separate statement, IRS Commissioner Charles Rettig said IRS is not able to provide the level of service taxpayers deserve and said that more resources for the agency are essential.
Some important letters will be coming your way from thre IRS, keep them for tax preparation purposes.
ACTC Letter 6419:
Helps taxpayers reconcile and receive all entitled Child Tax Credit payments. The letters will begin to mail in late December and continue into January. The letter includes the total ACTC payments received in 2021 and the number of qualifying children
Use this letter to help you compare the ACTC payments received with the amount that can be properly claimed
Taxpayers can also check the amount of their payments by using the CTC Update Portal available on the IRS website.
What you need to know about EIP Payment #3, Letter 6475:
It only applies to taxpayers that received the third round of EIP
Third round of Economic Impact Payments started in March 2021 and continued through December 2021
Use the letter to help determine if EIP 3 recipients are entitled to or should claim the Recovery Rebate Credit on tax year 2021 tax returns that will be filed in 2022
Letter mailing will begin in late January
I am not moving. The current disarray is due to damage done by Ida. There was water in the office and some repairs are needed.
The phones are back up. The office is in disarray (more than normal) however I am in and working. Call 973 743 5582 for the days and hours I am open each week.
We got a couple of inches of water in the office from the storm, as such we have some wet carpets. Plus we are having issues with our phone. Until Verizon can resolve the phone issues you may want to try and email us.
