We have just received some items today. We are open until 4 pm.

-What is a Microchip?
-Why should I have one for my pet? My pet never gets lost!
-Will a microchip harm my pet?
-What benefits do microchips provide my pet?
-Is it really worth getting my pet microchipped?
-Do microchips work like GPS?
These are just some of the questions we're asked daily about pet microchipping. It is an absolutely necessary part of responsible pet ownership AND proof of ownership! Thousands of pets are lost or stolen across the US everyday. It only takes one time. We encourage all pet owners of animals large and small to have their pets microchipped as a form of pet identification.
All our adoptable dogs and cats leave the Shelter with a microchip that lasts for their lifetime.

Is Heartworm Prevention worth it?
YES!
Georgia ranks 5th in the United States with the highest amount of Heartworm infections in dogs. All 50 States have heartworm positive cases yearly. This infection is highly preventable and heartworm prevention keeps our furry canine friends free of this terrible disease. 7 years of Heartworm Prevention for the average dog costs less than the actual treatment for Heartworm infection.
Not only do Heartworms live for 7-8 years on average. They average a size of 10-12 inches! Thousands of worms can invade the heart, lungs, and other organs of a dog in less than a year. This happens all from one simple mosquito or insect bite to your pet! Heartworm prevention stops this from happening. Never skip a dose. Every skipped dose is a window of opportunity for Heartworms to infect your dog.
Coming into the New Year. Protect your dog or puppy! Visit your veterinarian to discuss yearly Heartworm Testing and Monthly Preventative. Every dog large and small should be protected. Yes, even our little dog friends!

CASTOFF PET RESCUE THRIFT STORE
For more than 12 years, Castoff Pet Rescue, a 501c3 non profit, no kill animal shelter, has been serving Union County, Ga and surrounding areas by saving dogs and cats and finding them new homes. We are currently in an old facility that can only house a maximum 20 dogs and 30 cats. The need is so great and we would love to be able to help more cats and dogs . We are opening our new Castoff Pet Rescue Thrift Store to be able to raise enough money to purchase some land and then to build our dream shelter. ALL proceeds from the sale of donated items to our new thrift store will go toward our new shelter. So we thank you for your support in the way of donations of goods, money and your volunteer time to make this new effort a big success. The dogs and cats are counting on us!

General information
The mission of Castoff Pet Rescue continues to be: “To save and nurture homeless dogs and cats; to match companion animals with loving, life-long homes; to foster responsible pet care; to control overpopulation in our community through spay/neuter programs; and to assist other shelters and rescue groups in any endeavor to benefit the animals”.
In early 2019, volunteers from Castoff met to discuss the need for a new and larger shelter for dogs and cats. The existing shelter continually operates at capacity. A unanimous vote committed the organization and volunteers to the goal of building a new shelter to be located in Union County Georgia.
After conversations with a number of supporters it was decided to open the Castoff Pet Rescue Thrift Store. The proceeds from the thrift store are earmarked to fund the construction of our new, much needed shelter.
We look forward to your loving support and the success of our new store.
