I tutor using non-Traditional teaching methods.

I do not lecture due to its ineffectiveness. Instead, my students and I carry on a relaxed, nonthreatening conversation during which they do as much or more of the talking than I do. I ask many questions in a Socratic style which leads to the student providing many right and wrong answers giving me great insight into his thoughts. I use conversation and activities in a constructivist manner to build upon the student's existing knowledge and reshape any misconceptions. At all times I am diagnosing cognitive issues, identifying roadblocks and staying keenly aware to keep my focus near the student's zone of proximal development. In the end my students achieve a level of mathematical competency they did not think they were capable of, their fear of mathematics greatly diminishes and confidence levels rise to new heights.

$75 per contact hour

I believe most math tutors focus mainly on teaching math the same way to all of their students. I assess each individual students strengths, weaknesses and learning styles. My tutoring sessions are customized to each particular student to maximize his or her potential. My focus is on the individuals needs.

I am a mobile math tutoring service, so I will meet with the student at their home, a public library, or coffee shop. It is up to you. I believe that the most effective learning experience can be achieved in a one on one in person setting.
