Great simple video explaining the reasons to ditch the grass and replace with native gardens. At least adopt organic land care and ditch the pesticides! Check it out:
Video: Opinion | How to Fall Out of Love with Your Lawn Lawns are bad for you, your pets and the planet. It’s time to move on to greener pastures.

A healthy green grass is achievable if one can practice Organic Land Care techniques (i.e. mow high 4" and cut infrequently, leave grass clippings, eliminate use of pesticide/syntetic fertilizer) and use native grasses such as fine fescues and rye grasses. Of course, low maintenance alternatives to lawns are excellent choices whenever possible (i.e. native garden, vegetable garden, meadow, etc.)! Refer to this homeowners resource too from NOFA which is a stellar guide: https://nofa.organiclandcare.net/homeowner-resources/.
