The science has supported lower lactate culture media for decades. So why did the field standardize around 5 mM?
Find out in this Nexpert Webinar with Lindsey VerMilyea, “True continuous culture from Day 0: Application of a low lactate embryo culture system to improve IVF outcomes”.

Join the webinar on Monday, June 22
Presentation Time: 2pm EST / 7pm CET
Live Q&A with our Nexpert Panel Time: 2pm EST / 7pm CET

Registration link in comments.
Don’t want to wait? Contact your Nexpring Health Sales Rep for exclusive early access.

In this session, you’ll learn:
✴️ How elevated lactate levels suppress embryo metabolism by reducing NAD⁺ availability and limiting ATP production
✴️ The research behind low lactate culture and why it’s gaining renewed attention
✴️ Clinical data across maturation, fertilization, blastulation, euploidy, and ongoing pregnancy rates
✴️ Why timing matters, including the case for introducing low lactate as early as possible
✴️ Practical considerations for implementing low lactate protocols in your lab
✴️ Whether you’re evaluating new culture media or optimizing your current approach, you’ll gain the scientific and clinical context needed to make informed decisions.

Presented by Lindsey VerMilyea, Senior Clinical Research Coordinator at Nexpring Health and a clinical embryologist for 20 years.

The right conditions change everything.ďż˝

In 1984, Planer was recognized with the Queen’s Award for Technological Achievement for our pioneering work in controlled-rate freezing. That same year, our technology played a critical role in a global milestone: the birth of the first human baby from a frozen embryo in Melbourne, Australia. Zoe Leyland’s mother had 11 embryos frozen in a Planer Controlled Rate Freezer which was developed by Planer and Professor David Pegg.

Today, Planer’s systems are the global standard in biobanking, supporting the preservation of stem cells, tissue, and other critical biological materials. Because true innovation doesn’t just advance science – it changes lives.

Stable outcomes, even through change.

Allison Davis, MS, TS (ABB), Lab Manager at Ovation Indianapolis, conducted a real-world retrospective review of 461 autologous FET cycles that found no detriment to outcomes after switching cryodevices with a fast warming protocol.

“Labs will have SOPs to follow when implementing new products or procedures, but there is no one single right way to accomplish change,” said Davis. “As long as you are careful and methodical with implementation, while tracking important KPIs and training, a successful transition can occur.”

Is using a high lactate fertilization medium putting undue stress on your lab?

Exposure to elevated lactate levels prior to day 1 introduces metabolic stress at a time when embryos are most vulnerable, and in a way that later culture interventions cannot fully compensate for.

Clinical studies show that exposure to low-lactate culture from retrieval is associated with measurable improvements in embryo development and clinical outcomes, including:

• Higher Day 5 & Day 6 blastocyst utilization, even after adjusting for patient age*
• Increased utilization in patients over 38†
• Higher euploidy rates compared with CSCM‡
• Improved clinical pregnancy rates with reduced miscarriage§
• Reduced embryo discard rates**

CSCM-NX can be used immediately following retrieval and has the lowest-lactate formulation (1mM), aligned with early embryo metabolism.

Expanding what’s possible, before birth.

Our community isn’t afraid to tackle complexity. Specialized innovations like the Harrison Fetal Bladder Stent help improve outcomes at every stage of the journey, even in rare cases.

This product was also the very first to receive a Humanitarian Device Exemption from the FDA, helping define the FDA’s HDE approval pathway.

The Harrison Fetal Bladder Stent from Cook enabled early, minimally invasive intervention for fetal conditions like lower urinary tract obstruction. By helping preserve organ function and support development in utero, it marked an important step forward in fetal therapy. Because every stage of the journey matters.

Watch the tape and know your stats for a clearer path forward. When it comes to building a family, clarity beats assumptions every time.

Most people think fertility testing starts and ends with a semen analysis.
It doesn’t. Today’s andrology tools go much deeper:
From standard semen analysis and hormone testing, to DNA fragmentation, to epigenetic insights, and even emerging AI-assisted s***m selection.
Each layer adds clarity. Each step leads to better decisions.

Fertility isn’t a guessing game.
If it matters, you check it.

According to the World Health Organization reference ranges, key semen parameters matter: motility (>40%), concentration (≥15 M/mL), and morphology (>4%). If you’re trying to conceive, or planning to, get tested. Knowledge isn’t uncomfortable, regret is.
