SOGA is an educational space designed for the community to share knowledge about organic urban agriculture and self-sufficiency in the food system.

We teach decals, hold workshops, and host weekly open hours. This type of experiential learning takes place during open volunteer hours, workshops, and DeCals (student-led courses at UCB). The garden, located on UC Berkeley property, is managed by undergraduate students and funded primarily through grants from generous organizations. ⭐️a workshop by death doula, Myles, who will facilitate on the grief of “acknowledging the tenderness we hold.”

Mapping Event 2.0: Mental Maps of Belonging 🌍

Back by popular demand, program / community member Zach will be holding another mapping knowledge share this Saturday! Come by to discuss themes around ‘spatial understandings of belonging’ and create your own mental map to express those interpretations 🗺️

we are hosting a COMPOST WORKSHOP!
come join us on the land to learn how to build + maintain a basic, two-ingredient compost pile🌱

it will be led by StopWaste, a local public agency supporting Alameda residents with reducing waste. come by to ask questions on how we can implement compost on the farm, and at home🏠

second half is our lovely facilitators sharing a much needed retreat to ucsc ‘s farm to create spring programming, crop planning, and dance around in the rainy forest 🧚‍♀️☔ we can’t wait to bring some santa cruz magic back to the land🌱

Spring 2025 Agroecology in Action🌱

Become a member of our *program* this spring, where we plan to regularly hold community events/workshops on the farm around topics of ag, food sovereignty, and land liberation.

Join us for a welcome dinner at Oxford Tract on Friday 02/21 to meet everyone and dream together about future plans on the land!

This program is not limited to students, and all community members are welcome. That is anybody who is committed to the BSF community, i.e. 1) shows up to open hours regularly and 2) helps with our workshops and other events we have planned (compost 101, tree care, cookbook planning, seed trading etc.).
