Happy anniversary!

Paul Taylor and Jim Strait celebrated their partnership of 30 plus years by getting married at The Desert Rose Playhouse. Jim is Artistic Director. Paul is Managing Director. They chose a Hawaiian theme because Paul is from there originally and they hope to return there to live some day. The theater was a perfect venue to celebrate their life together.

Opening March 6, Desert Rose Playhouse presents "The Divine Sster" by Charles Busch directed by J. Stegar Thompson.

Rose, Eugenia, and Ginny pull out all THE STOPS at The Desert Rose Playhouse. I think this is a very funny show. A good-hearted, if somewhat irreverent, mash up of what passes for contemporary Christianity. The songs are a hoot.

"Jay is a writer. And one of his friends sends him a wannabe writer, new in town from Iowa: Frank, played by former ballet-dancer John Ferrare. The gorgeous Frank, beautifully playing a straight man (in both senses of the word) to Strait’s comic character, has to work indescribably hard to provide the setups and to control the timing of the lines—some delivered so rapid-fire as to make an U*i envious. Ferrare hits just the right note with his seriousness, and then he shocks us (all too rarely) with one of his light-up-the-world smiles.
