A 46-year-old Berkeley bookstore closes, another COVID-19 casualty — Berkeleyside University Press Books has struggled financially for years despite trying many different approaches to stay in business.

Also join us this Wednesday 2/19 from 5:30 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. for a talk from archaeologist Mitchell Allen. Dr. Allen is a research associate at the archaeological research facility UC Berkeley and at the Smithsonian Institution. He will be discussing his previously unpublished Helmand Sistan Project, a 1970s survey and excavation in Afghanistan.

Introducing our new literature subsection: Literary Science Fiction and Fantasy. This will be curated by myself. It's still in a seminal state but will continue to grow. And of course this categorization may lead to some debate, but such debate isn't at all new to genre fiction. Come check it out.
