Dream with us, Grow with us, Dance with us!
Founded in 1974, Berkeley City Ballet is a not for profit organization that provides the intensive training and performing experience necessary to qualify young dancers for entrance into major dance companies if they wish. BCB’s advanced students audition and are selected to participate in supplementary summer workshops at renowned schools. Over the years, a considerable number of BCB graduates have continued into professional careers in dance with companies such as American Ballet Theatre, Joffrey and Dance Theater of Harlem. Others have pursued further training at prestigious college-level dance programs at Butler University, University of Utah, UC Irvine, Boston Conservatory, and Alvin Ailey/Fordham. Berkeley City Ballet’s mission is to bring cultural enrichment and an awareness and appreciation of the art of dance to the East Bay.

Today is our final Visitors Day of the school year! Held at the end of each session, Visitors Day give our Pre-Ballet dancers an introduction to performing without the pressure of a big stage and lights. These little dancers will be on the stage in Nutcracker before we know it!

Congratulations to all of our Pre-Professional Program dancers on a wonderful weekend of Spring Concert performances! From our Ballet 1 bluebirds, to our Ballet 5-6 fairies, everyone danced beautifully. Thank you to everyone involved, we can’t do it without all of the teachers, parents, and family members supporting our dancers.

We had the pleasure of taking a field trip to see San Francisco Ballet’s Don Quixote! Seeing live dance can be so inspiring for young dancers and we were glad to be able to share the experience with so many of our students and their families.
