Accessible Care Makes a Difference

Cash came to Vets in Vans needing a little extra support to get back to feeling his best. With the care he received during his visit, Cash was soon more comfortable and on his way to feeling like himself again. Sometimes, a little help can make a big difference!

Cash’s visit highlights the importance of having accessible veterinary services available when pets need them. Through our partnership with Vets in Vans, Berkeley Humane helps connect local pets and their families with timely, affordable care for a variety of health concerns. By making these services more accessible, we can help pets get the attention they need before a concern becomes something more serious.

Build a stronger bond with your dog!

Give your dog the foundation they need for a safe, happy, and enjoyable life together with Basic Skills at Berkeley Humane! Using reward-based training, this class helps you build trust, communication, and everyday skills while strengthening your relationship with your pup.

Across 4 in-person sessions, you’ll practice engagement and focus, leash walking, recall, sit, down, appropriate greetings, and using targets and platforms for enrichment. Each session includes a lecture topic, demonstration, and hands-on coaching, with videos and a class handbook to help you continue practicing at home.

Let your dog follow their nose!

Tap into your dog’s natural instincts with Scent Work at Berkeley Humane! Inspired by techniques used to train professional detection dogs, this class gives your pup the chance to search, sniff, problem-solve, and have fun while building confidence and using both mental and physical energy.

Led by Nancy Frensley, a certified Scent Work instructor and AKC Scent Work Judge, this class is suitable for beginners and can help prepare dog-and-handler teams for future competitions.

These two sweet kittens are ready to bring a little extra coziness to your fall! Butternut and Squash love chasing toys, wrestling together, and curling up for cuddles once playtime is over.

Whether they’re bouncing around together or snuggled up in an adorable kitten pile, these two are sure to make every day a little sweeter. They’re looking for a kitten-appropriate home where they can keep playing, growing, and sharing their love!

FREE PET HEALTH SERVICES ARE ALMOST HERE!

This weekend, Berkeley Humane is opening its doors for Champions for Pet Health Rally Weekend, providing free essential preventive care for dogs and cats in our community.

If your pet needs a vaccine, microchip, flea and tick prevention, or dewormer, this two-day clinic is an opportunity to access these services at no cost.

No appointment is needed—services are available on a walk-in basis. Please be prepared to wait.

A few reminders before you come: dogs must be on leash, cats must be in secure carriers, and previous vaccination records should be brought along, especially for Rabies vaccines. Animals that are visibly ill will not be vaccinated.

Meet Koah!

Straight from the Big Island of Hawaiʻi, Koah has traveled 2,300 miles to Berkeley Humane in hopes of finding his loving family. Now that he’s here, this sweet pup is ready to make new friends and experience everything the Bay Area has to offer!

Koah is happiest when he’s spending time with his people. Whether he’s curled up on the couch, or playing to his heart’s content, he’s always ready to share some love. He’s still a puppy, which means he has plenty to learn, so his future family should be prepared to help him with training and basic manners. He’s looking for a large-breed puppy-appropriate home where he can grow, learn, and thrive.

Looking to add a little more sweetness to your days? Dreamy is a fluffy, affectionate girl who’s ready to make every day feel like a dream come true! She’s soft as a cloud, bright and loving, and always ready for a cozy nap with her favorite person.

As a young cat, Dreamy still enjoys bursts of playful energy before settling right back into a warm lap. Whether she’s playing, cuddling, or peacefully snoozing by your side, she’s happiest when she’s spending time with her people.

This sweet girl made the 2,300-mile journey from the Big Island of Hawaiʻi to the Bay Area for her second chance, and she’s ready to meet her new best friends!
