My old buddy, Slycy... first horse I trained who has been retired for some years now... heading into his 4th year in this program at the Pleasant Valley State Prison ... He's the big beautiful Bay horse with the small white 'slice' on his nose. He's still the champ even off the racetrack.

My first race horse, Summer Starlet!
She's 16 now and gone from race horse, to mama and now onto new home/job with a great family.

Just wanted to make a glow-up type post of the big mama.
Beautiful, athletic, great mama, smart...... such an incredible being!
Starlet had 7 foals, 6 raced/racing with 5 of the them winning and 3 of them winning multiple times ... her current/last runner is THEYREMINISCEOVERU (age 4) who recently topped the 60K mark for earnings.
I'm lucky/happy to be able to keep tabs on my race horses and follow them and their new adventures.
Racing is such a small a part of their lives, there is so much more beyond racing and its rewarding watching them thrive afterwards.
Big thanks to Ben Samrick and Alice Mathews for looking out for her and giving her such great care and homes.

6 year old Annie's Chief lights it up at 25-1 and wins the opener at Golden Gate Fields on May 14th.

Getting it done!
5 year old Darksaber winning the opener at Golden Gate Fields 4/29/22.
Everything came together and he was able to get his 3rd career win with great handling by his jockey Assael Espinoza who has stuck with us along the way.
Congrats to the owners BIG BARN THOROUGHBREDS and the Uso's!
It's fun to hear owners hooting and hollering for their horse!

MY first horse, Slycy... to train/own.
we won 8 out of 17 races, basically , he won every other time he ran. He's currently retired (almost 15 years old now) and has been working within the TRF program for several years.. working with inmates at Pleasant Valley State Prison ( Coalinga Ca) and the rehabilitation program. Winner of of $230K via 52 starts and 14 total wins Slycy is a special dude and is continuing his special work amongst the community.
