You do not have to call yourself a poet to apply. Former Vice Youth Poet Laureate Serena Griffin says her main passion was actually music, not poetry.

Berkeley Youth Poet Laureate applications are open for 2027. Two Berkeley teens will be chosen to represent the city, with chances to perform at local events, lead a workshop, and connect with poets, artists, and mentors in the community.

New this year: both winners receive a $250 award.

Applications close October 30. Start your application soon so you have time to finish it.

For more information and how to apply, visit bit.ly/4yM22HO.
