They decided to create their own club and hired Bill O’Donnell to be the coaching director. The club took its name from the River Mersey.
The Mersey Soccer Club was founded in 1985 by a group of parents that had become dissatisfied with the soccer experience and inconsistent coaching their children were getting while participating in another East Bay soccer club.
