🍁 GALLERY OPEN September 26, 2026 ~ 11 to 5

🍂 Our award winning Mari Emori, now an esteemed member of the International Academy of Ceramics, will be hosting the Saturday Gallery this weekend. Mari is recently returned from a residency in an artist community tucked into a lush, green valley in Jingdezhen, China ~
Sanbo International Ceramic Art Village.
“A moment of cultural emersion in the landscape and living tradition of of Jingdezhen”, describes her 2 month-long experience shared with a small group of ceramicists invited by the generous director and founder Jackson Li, potter and sculptor, who shares his expansive studio space with international ceramic artists year after year.

🍁 What can appear when one receives the impressions of a radically new environment, embraced by the support and camaraderie of like-minded, passionate clay artists? Amidst the verdant surroundings in an open clay studio, Mari delved deeply into exploring her Drop Series using local red clay ~ a completely new material with which to design and sculpt, facing a myriad of challenges, and the delight of finding creative ways to solve, then sculpting new versions of Drops!

🍂 Currently in the exhibition “SIO2/Northern California Ceramics” at the Santa Cruz Museum of Art & History, Sept. 2 - Jan. 3, curated in collaboration with ACGA, Mari also displays her thoughtful, magnificent sculpture in the Guild Gallery.

Please come feast your eyes on Mari’s beautiful work and yes! ceramics by each of the 18 potters working at the Guild.

🔶 This is your lucky Saturday ! John Stephenson hosting the Gallery once again. A passionate potter and our longest-time Guild member, John has embraced two careers…

🔸 One day soon after college, fatigued by 9 to 5 life working in a bank, John signed up for a ceramics class at a local college. A speedy learner, and true adult prodigy of throwing pots on the wheel, presto ! He was hooked. Soon after, participating in the college’s craft show, he sold out! Now a retired CPA, John is enjoying the fruits of more time in the studio, travel, assisting in the Guild’s transition to becoming a Non Profit, and hanging out with his beloved wife, Teresa. Come say hi, enjoy our summer Gallery colors, sign our monthly newsletter’s mailing list ~ find a treasure to bring home.
