This is a profound loss for the MECA/Alliance Graphics family and our whole community — rest in power Barbara.

When I joined Alliance Graphics 6 months ago, I shared the plan to take the organization through the process of becoming a Certified B Corp.

Today I am happy to announce that accomplishing that goal was something that Howard Levine (one of our founders) and I were able to achieve – just as he was retiring and officially passing the proverbial baton on to me last month.

Having been connected, working and consulting with Alliance Graphics for more than eight years, I have always said that it was, “a B-Corp since before there was such a thing as a B-Corp”. As a Bay Area, community screenprinting and embroidery shop, it has supported social justice, labor and community movements for more than 35 years. We are absolutely thrilled to continue that legacy as part of the B-Corp community.

In celebration and solidarity, Alliance Graphics will be closed on Thursday, June 19th for the Juneteenth holiday. We will be back in the office Friday June 20th from 8:30-5:30.

It's always great to see the things we make in action. Here are some great shots from Play Like a Girl+ event last Sunday. There were 1,000+ girls ages 2-18 that came out to try 29 different sports. You may recognize Dana Vollmer-Grant (5-time Olympic gold medal swimmer) and Layshia Clarendon (former WNBA (LA Sparks) and Cal Berkeley player).

Put on by the city of Piedmont, were proud be one of the sponsors of Play Like a Girl+ this year, a FREE, interactive day of hands-on activities, live-demonstrations, inspiring role models, and good vibes — all aimed at getting girls ages 2-18 pumped about new sports!

On this César Chávez Day, let us remember the man, the movement and the lessons that are so relevant in this moment:
