There’s Nothing Stopping Me Now CTP Graduate Testimonials

Since 1975, CTP has been changing the lives of people with disabilities.

Today, that work is at risk.

One of the things that stood out most for these graduates was the support they received from CTP staff and fellow students. Whenever help was needed, there was always someone willing to step in. That sense of community helps our participants feel valued, respected, and empowered to achieve their career goals.

We need your help today to ensure that people with disabilities across California have the opportunity to build careers, gain independence, and succeed tomorrow.

Maer Ben-Yisrael, Director of Technology at Ecole Bilingue de Berkeley and a CTP Board Member, shares why hosting CTP graduates as interns has been such a valuable experience.

Internships aren’t just about giving someone an opportunity to gain work experience. They also bring new people, perspectives, skills, and ideas into the workplace.

CTP partners with businesses and organizations to provide graduates with opportunities to apply their skills, build confidence, and gain real-world experience, while employers gain motivated interns who bring their own strengths and perspectives to the team.

For 50 years, CTP has been changing lives.

Today, that work is at risk.

CTP gives people with disabilities the opportunity to build careers, achieve greater independence, develop skills, and participate fully in the workforce.

For people with disabilities, CTP can be the bridge between “What do I do now?” and “I can do this.”

For so many people, CTP is more than job training. It’s a path forward.

We need your help today to make sure that path remains available tomorrow.

CTP is supporting the Commission for the Blind’s call for a hearing on the new Order of Selection policy at the California Department of Rehabilitation (DOR).

Please take a moment to participate in the campaign and urge committee leadership to schedule a hearing: https://actionnetwork.org/letters/hearing-request

The policy changes being proposed have significant implications for people with disabilities seeking employment services, as well as for the network of providers working to support them.

The hearing must address three critical areas:

Harmful Policy Changes: The automatic waitlisting of all new applicants under the Order of Selection policy will cause indefinite delays for new applicants, pushing individuals onto public assistance and increasing state costs.
Operational Dysfunction: DOR faces chronic inefficiencies. Clients endure long waits, poor communication, and uncoordinated services. Even clients with active service plans experience delays and wasted funds due to poor coordination.
Vendor Collapse and Payment Violations: Vendors face chronic payment delays, violating the California Prompt Payment Act. Combined with the freeze on new referrals, this threatens the permanent collapse of DOR’s specialized service infrastructure and the loss of decades of institutional knowledge.
Please urge committee leadership to schedule this hearing before irreversible harm occurs.

People with disabilities deserve timely access to the services and employment supports they need, and the providers delivering those services need a sustainable system to continue doing this work.
