June 19 @TVEyeNYC indie music promoter @DotDashNYC, who also hosts monthly @MamaTriedBK music events, organized a great night in honor of pioneering Long Island, NY '80s/'90s indie rock label Homestead Records, with alumni performers including Vassar College-originated noise pop trio Love Child, Amherst, MA-originated noise rock band New Radiant Storm King, NYC-originated art-punk trio Phantom Tollboth, and a solo 🎸 set from Austin, TX-based @cstbtweet, who managed Homestead in the late '80s before becoming a co-owner of influential indie rock label @MatadorRecords in the '90s & later founding @12XUrecs. After disbanding in 1993, Love Child reunited in 2024 in conjunction with 12XU's release of the comilation Never Meant to Be that chronicled the brief but buoyant recording career of the founding members @Irvifran 🎸 🎤 & @RebeccaMOdes bass/🎤 & longtime member @BOMalley500 🥁, who played a set that buzzed with their melding of twee indie pop and lacerating post-punk guitar skronk, driving melodic bass, and barreling drum fills, sometimes with Licht & Odes trading vocals, including on "Know It's Alright" from 1991 debut LP Okay?. 📽️ + 📝 @TheMickLewis #LoveChild #HomesteadRecords #PostPunk #NoiseRock #IndieRock
