Cupcakin' Bake Shop is taking over Virginia Bakery in Berkeley Owner Lila Owens is expanding her gourmet cupcake business and will soon have three locations — two in Berkeley and one in Oakland.

Due to the tremendous increase in order requests we have reached maximum capacity and are no longer able to accept any additional advance orders now through our closing on April 28th. We will continue to do our best to keep our store stocked with all your favorites. Please visit us at the bakery 7:30 AM-6:00 PM. Thank you for your understanding.

We are absolutely amazed and honored by your response to our closing on April 28th. Your sweet stories of your personal and family favorites and your sadness that we are closing has touched our hearts. Our employees have been absolutely amazing and have been working long hours with us to assure that all your favorites are available through our closing. You have all waited patiently to be served both in the store and over the phone. We will continue to try to keep the store stocked. We will answer your phone calls as much as we can. Good people, we are open through Saturday April 28th. We are baking as fast as we can. If, when you come in, our shelves are low in goodies, it’s because you lovely folks have whipped us out. Beloved Berkeley bakery closing after 60 years Virginia Bakery has been in the Erdmann family since 1953. It's closing permanently on April 28 because the current owners John and Anne want to retire and hang out with their grandkids.

Virginia Bakery is closing permanently on April 28, 2018 after 65 years in the Erdmann family. We will miss you, but it’s time to retire. We hope to see you sometime before we close.
