Berkeley Take Back the Night

Take Back the Night at Cal is a student-run evening of empowerment aimed at raising awareness and shattering the silence surrounding sexual violence, domestic violence, and r**e affecting all genders and sexual orientations. Take Back the Night is a program of the Gender Equity Resource Center that is planned by interns with the support of a planning committee. We aim to empower survivors by publicly speaking up against violence through creative mediums such as art, poetry, music, and open storytelling. Take Back the Night is a safe space place for the survivors of violence who want to share their stories. We strive to support, empower, and inspire the Berkeley community by uniting all of our voices and demanding our community be free of all types of violence. Violence affects everyone regardless of ability, age, class, ethnic origin, gender, gender expression, gender identity, political ideology, race, sexual orientation, and spiritual or religious beliefs.
