She Builds Power trains women to design and lead systems of water, food, and finance—the essentials that were once out of reach, now in women’s hands.

As PowerBuilders they break the poverty cycle, drive local economies, and create generational wealth. The Global Women’s Water Initiative equips local African women leaders with technology training, entrepreneurial skills, networking support, and seed funding to take leadership in the water, sanitation and hygiene (WASH) sector and launch sustainable water service projects across Africa. African women are WASH technicians, educators and entrepreneurs generating income as WASH experts in their communities! Like us on Twitter: @womenwater

Food is never just food. 🌱

It can shape a family’s security, a woman’s livelihood, and the strength of an entire community.

In our upcoming Growing Food, Building Power webinar, we’re bringing five important conversations to the table: food security, regenerative agriculture, livelihoods, women’s economic power, and community ownership.

Because when women have the resources and opportunity to grow, they can build more than a harvest—they can build power, agency, and a stronger future.

🌱 Join us as we explore what becomes possible when growing food becomes a pathway to building power.

Rose is growing more than lettuce and kale. She’s growing a customer base.

Today, she sells her produce to three restaurants in local hotels—turning what she grows into income and greater economic opportunity.

This is what becomes possible when women have the resources, skills, and access to take what they grow further.
Help more women like Rose grow, earn, and build power.

What if growing food could do more than feed a family? What if it could build a woman’s income, independence, and power? 🌱

Across East Africa, women are already doing much of the work that sustains their families and communities. At She Builds Power, we’re working to ensure that women have the skills, resources, and authority to turn that work into lasting opportunity.

On October 16, join Rosemary Atieno, SBP Kenya Director, for our webinar to celebrate World Food Day: Growing Food, Building Power.

Hear directly from the field about how investing in women and food systems can strengthen livelihoods, build resilience, and create change that continues beyond a single intervention.

If you’ve ever wondered what your support can make possible, this conversation is for you.

🌱 Come see how food becomes opportunity—and opportunity becomes power.

In loving memory of Amina Musa. 🤍

Today would have been Amina’s birthday. And while we wish we could be celebrating it with her, today we choose to celebrate the life she lived, the woman she became, and the legacy she leaves behind.

Amina’s journey was one of courage and transformation. She found her voice, stepped into leadership, and used that voice to help other women discover their own strength.
Through her work, she brought women together, shared knowledge, strengthened livelihoods, and created opportunities for women and their families.

Though we mourn her passing, the power Amina built lives on—in the women she empowered, the families she touched, and the knowledge she passed forward.
On her birthday, we remember Amina not only for what we have lost, but for everything she gave.

Amina found her voice. Then she helped others find theirs.
Happy birthday in remembrance, Amina. 🤍

Your life, your leadership, and your legacy will not be forgotten.

— With love, the She Builds Power family.

Happy Labor Day from She Builds Power. 💚

Women have always been working—building, growing, caring, solving, and sustaining their communities. The work is already there. What changes everything is when that work is recognized as skill, valued as expertise, and backed with income and authority.

At She Builds Power, we invest in women not simply as participants, but as the experts and leaders their communities can rely on.

Work → Skill → Expertise → Authority.

Because her work matters. Her expertise matters. And her leadership matters.

Water has a cost that doesn't always show up on a receipt.

For many women, that cost is time—time spent collecting, carrying, managing, and making limited water stretch across a household.
And time has value.

When water becomes closer and more reliable, it can create more room for growing food, earning income, saving, learning, and investing in what comes next.
That's why water is about more than access. It's connected to health, time, and economic opportunity.

At She Builds Power, we train women to build practical solutions that strengthen the communities they already hold together.

Water → Time → Opportunity

💜 Share the work that deserves to be seen.

What holds a community together? Not cement. Not bricks. Hands.

The hands that mix the concrete, dig the trenches, and protect the spring so it stays clean for everyone downstream. The hands that show up before the photo is taken and stay long after it's put away.

Every completed project has a visible result — clean water, a finished wall, a protected spring. But the real foundation is invisible: thousands of hours of labor, leadership, and commitment from the community itself.

This is what community-led development actually looks like. 💪

Women contribute more than labor. They contribute knowledge, leadership, skills, and solutions that keep communities moving forward.

When women have the tools and power to lead, their work can strengthen food security, create income, and build opportunities that last.

At She Builds Power, women aren’t just part of the solution. They’re building it. 💪🏾🌱

She is Regina Wandolo. A woman who realized her skills could make a real difference.

After training with She Builds Power, Regina didn't keep those skills to herself. She mobilized her community. Women showed up. Men supported. Together, they built a protected spring well serving 702 people across three villages—and 42 more women gained skills along the way.

Today, Regina is more than a trainee. She's a builder, an organizer, and a community leader.

This is what happens when women have the skills and opportunity to lead: they build solutions, and they bring others with them. 💧💛

Help us train more women like Regina and build more community-led water solutions.

The spring was already there. So was the leadership.

What changed was access to the skills, tools, and support to protect what the community already had.
Through She Builds Power training, women learned how to protect natural springs, while community members contributed labor, local knowledge, and materials to bring the solution to life.

The result is more than a protected water source. It is women leading, building, and creating lasting solutions their communities can sustain for generations.

Agency → Leadership → Legacy.
