π° So this is pretty cool! The Columbian featured a behind-the-scenes photo from Feet of Death in their story about the Clark County Arts Commission and its new Arts Talk Live series. π¬
I love seeing filmmaking included in the conversation about the arts here in Southwest Washington. There are a lot of talented filmmakers, actors, crew members and creatives in this area, and Iβd love to see our local film community continue to grow.
For those of you working in film or the arts locally, what do you think would make the biggest difference for growing filmmaking in Southwest Washington?
More productions? Better incentives? More networking? More funding? More places to shoot?
Curious what everyone thinks.

π¬What does it take to build a thriving film industry in Southern Washington? π₯ I had the opportunity to join Carl Beyer (The Brink of War) and Craig McCourry (Hong Kong 1942) for a panel discussion about filmmaking and film production here in Southern Washington. One of the most interesting parts of the conversation was how do we make Southern Washington competitive enough that productions actually choose to make them here?
We have incredible locations, talented crews, filmmakers, and people who want to build this industry locally. But productions are also making very practical financial decisions about where they shoot, and incentives have become a major part of that equation.
With a national film production incentive currently being discussed, we also talked about what it could look like for Southern Washington to develop a local incentive of its own, working alongside the programs already available at the state level.
Because growing a film industry isn't just about encouraging people to make movies. It's about creating an environment where productions can hire locally, spend locally, and have a reason to keep coming back. Iβd love to see Southern Washington become a place where more films arenβt just developed, but shot and edited here! What are your thoughts about film incentives?
Huge thanks to La Center Arts Council and the Clark County Arts Commission for bringing filmmakers and the community together for the conversation.

TRUTH TIME! This is what my days normally look like. Not fun on set pics, or traveling around with friends and family. Sitting with my Jurassic Park pajama pants in a dimly lit room staring far too closely at giant monitors! But when I get a shot like this of Smack eyes, it makes it all worth it! π¬ Today I'm working on going through and getting things organized so I can hand off the edit to both composer, colorist and sound designer! Super excited for this next step as on Feet of Death I was doing all this by myself. So I welcome the creative collaboration with open arms!

Had an awesome time celebrating Emma's 14th birthday this weekend slash belated summer vacation this weekend! Funny enough, we randomly ended up meeting with some of our long-time friends, heidi β€οΈπ¦ , at Silverwood Theme Park while we were there. You know we love our theme parks, Silverwood has been one of our summer traditions for years now! And this year they have a new Magic and Bird FX show that Maverick LOVED! π¦ π₯

π» Had a great time at the Portland/Vancouver Filmmakers mixer last night. Three major take aways I will bore you with.
π¬ π¬
1) It is always great leaving my hole of an office and getting out to meet other passionate people. Specifically, I actually met my colorist in person, Lucas White | Freelance Colorist! Can't wait to get started with that. 2) I had a great conversation with Marty from Lucky Lobsters Productions. Always good to hear other peoples point of view and learn what they are doing to try and make it in this industry.
3) Funny enough I used to work 2 blocks from this place and I actually shot a short film in this abandoned lot like 12 years ago. And, No, it does not hold up. π See last slides. Man how time flies!

Did a solo shoot last night to grab an insert shot for 24 Hours To Orbit. We never got to building this little light contraption, so we couldn't get it during principal. Now my hands will officially make it into the movie! Smack doesn't have anything on this hand model! π¬ Felt super cool with a tarp draped over this last little piece of the set in my driveway to keep the smoke in during the middle of the night. lol.

π From spaceship film set to swing set. π That's what I call recycling! β»οΈ We may be taking a lot of this to the dump, but we salvaged everything we could for future projects and lumber for projects just like this. She has been asking for a swing set for far too long so we finally were able to get it done for her. And her construction skills are coming along nicely!

π¬ Had a great time last night going to a screening of the new movie, The Brink of War, hosted by one of the executive producers Carl Beyer ! π It's always great getting together with other film makers, talking shop and celebrating others hard work. So thank you Carl and Tracy for hosting this, and thank you Grace and Craig for inviting us to hang out!

π¬ Finally was able to get back to Banyan Tree Films Studio and take down the last pieces of the ship set from . π It's sad to see all the months of hard work demolished in a few hours!
Now that all filming is done I can finally load all the sets, trash, props, etc and take it to the dump. It's insane how much waste a film can create. My 25' trailer is overflowing! And this is with keeping an entire shed's worth of stuff for future projects.
