Save the Date! Meet the Makers: Studio Tour
Sunday, June 28th • 2–4pm

Ever wondered what happens behind the studio doors at the Cave? This month’s member event is your chance to step inside the creative worlds of our resident artists.

We’ll guide you through the studios in small groups, where you’ll meet the makers who bring this place to life — glass artists, leather tooling, oil painting, custom jewelry design, guitar making, and more.

Each artist will share a short walkthrough of their space, what they’re working on, and the stories behind their craft. You’ll see works in progress, ask questions, explore tools and techniques, and get a rare peek at the magic that usually happens behind closed doors.

Some makers may have pieces for sale, share their websites or socials, or simply open their doors and let you step into their creative process.

This event is all about connection — celebrating the incredible talent within our studios and giving members a chance to meet the makers who shape our community.

Gene has been on a roll on the wood lathe lately — experimenting with new shapes, testing different woods, and dialing in his turning technique. The results speak for themselves.

Already know how to turn? Come hang out at Open Lathe every Thursday from 6–9pm through 7/2 and keep growing your skills alongside makers like Gene.

New to the lathe? We’ve got upcoming Intro to Turning classes: • June 3rd, June 17th, July 1st and July 15th from 6–9pm Come learn the basics and start making your own turned pieces.

Ask anyone in these classes and they’ll tell you: the best part is that moment when it clicks. The first perfect foil line in stained glass. The stool legs fitting together just right. The steel bending under the hammer exactly the way you wanted. The wine bottle smoothing into a clean, usable glass. Our instructors live for those moments and this week is full of them.

Classes and workshops for kids and adults

The Baker Web Academy students just wrapped up their Adirondack chair projects at the Cave, and they absolutely crushed it. Their instructor shared how incredible the experience was, and we couldn’t agree more.

We loved having this crew in the shop, watching their confidence grow with every cut, clamp, and assembly step was such a joy. They put real heart into these builds, and it shows in every finished chair.

The students should be proud. These chairs look fantastic and ready to soak up the summer sun.

Earlier this month Terry got to watch his son Adam weld a headdress here at the Cave, a bold piece he created for the High Desert Fire Artists. It was one of those proud dad moments that’s equal parts fun to watch and a little nerve wracking.

Adam and the are performing tonight at Bend Summer Fest, Saturday May 30th, at 7:45 & 8:30pm at the intersection of Oregon and Irving if you want to see the headdress in action.

Jack’s van is officially DONE and ready for the road just in time for the long weekend and the story behind it is one for the books.

After his previous van was destroyed in a freak accident (thankfully no one was inside), he found himself reluctantly starting over with a bare shell and no idea what would come next. But like every great hero’s path, the right mentor appeared. Steve, along with a whole cast of colorful Cave helpers guided him through each step.

Over two months, Jack picked up new skills, pushed through mistakes, frustrations, breakthroughs, and joy… and built something incredible.

Now the van is finished, he’s equipped for adventure, and life is richer for the journey through the Cave.
