Our xCOLD solar-powered cooling system could be part of the solution for both residential and commercial air conditioning, taking significant electricity load off of the grid and leveraging the sun to blow cold air.

We are excited to announce that we have been selected as a semifinalist in the xTechPacfic Competition for our xCOLD solar-powered HVACR solution! The challenge looks for novel technology solutions to address the tyranny of distance challenges faced by the Army in the U.S. Pacific region. We look forward to participating in the next steps!

Seeing the news lately, heatwaves all over the world, helps motivate us to continue developing our xCOLD platform. The SolarX Works xCOLD is a portable, solar-powered refrigeration and cooling platform leveraging our patented control system and form factor. We originally designed the xCOLD for the cold storage of perishables like food and medicine (and still can) but there is another perishable out there that it can help--PEOPLE. Those out there in the sweltering heat, whether working or simply living, could benefit from this cooling technology. Just set it up, plug it into the solar panels, and you have instant cooling anywhere in the world. Cold powered by light.

Field testing is underway at SolarX and we're excited to release some of our findings! Here are some highlights (note: all tests have been run in “stacked” mode): we have had successful sustained operations for over ten hours running on solar alone (using six 300 watt panels), we reached a low sustained interior temperature of 23.5°F / -4.72°C (and a lowest point of 16°F / -8.9°C) – ambient temperature was 73°.
