Last year we began a very special project. It was a 1959 Airstream Overlander, the owner of which was battling a terminal illness. As an ambassador for Airstream and the Vintage Travel Trailer Community as a whole, his wish was to have this Airstream renovated so that his wife could continue living the Airstream life, traveling with all the comforts of a modern trailer but with the mid-century aesthetic of an original. The project grew in scope as we went along, primarily due to the condition of the trailer, but the result is absolutely beautiful! We hope you enjoy these photos. I just came across an old Portfolio photo album from back in the day… you know when we were still developing our pictures 😉, and found these photos of our very first Flyte Camp shop and a couple of our first projects! Including a photo of the day we met Stube, when he came to pick up a 1946 Curtis Wright Model 2 we restored. Happy to say that Stube and Denny are still some of our favorite trailer friends ❤️ and in fact we set up camp together just last week at the Modernism Week Vintage Trailer Show in Palm Springs!

Today we lost a Father, a Grandfather, a Dear Friend and Mentor. The Original Riveter, someone you could always count on to lend a hand. We cherished his final days, as he rallied to showed us how strong he was, both mentally & physically. He was so loved and is already so missed.

Late Night Design Sesh - This is what happens when you think you have it all figured out and then you remember that you had an original piece of Linoleum flooring that just might work for a Bowlus you are building…. And you actually find it, unroll it for the first time and it is in fabulous condition!! So I ask, what would you do?! Would you 1. Scrap your design, and try to find new materials to match this flooring that may be a couple of feet shorter in length than the trailer subfloor, 2. Install practical and durable sheet Marmoleum that comes in many colorways or 3. Custom fabricate hardwood flooring with a metal inlay for a clean nautical feel.
